Based on Disney's epic animated musical adventure and Edgar Rice Burrough's Tarzan of the Apes, Tarzan features heart-pumping music by rock legend, Phil Collins. High-flying excitement and hits, like the Academy Award winning "You'll Be in My Heart," as well as "Son of Man" and "Two Worlds," make Tarzan an unforgettable theatrical experience.

Washed up on the shores of West Africa, an infant boy is taken in and raised by gorillas who name him Tarzan. Apart from striving for acceptance from his ape father, Tarzan's life is mostly monkey business until a human expedition treks into his tribe's territory, and he encounters creatures like himself for the first time. Tarzan struggles to navigate a jungle, thick with emotion, as he discovers his animal upbringing clashing with his human instincts.

OFC’s middle school and teen camps feature a range of students who are bound for Broadway, enjoy performing for fun, and are first timers. OFC welcomes all teens to continue or begin their theatre journey in our teen program. Typically, the teen productions tackle a full Broadway or off-Broadway-length show, not a reduced version, with a script and score designed for adults and professionals. Auditions will be held on the first day, but all registered teens for the program will receive a part (or parts) in the show with our “no cut” policy (unless otherwise noted). While no previous experience is required, many students have been performing since they were in diapers. Directors are ready to meet all students at their respective experience level and feature their skill sets appropriately, no matter how long they have been performing. The experience should be fun and enjoyable for all participants, with a focus on putting on the best show possible.

Frozen JR. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production. A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters (including a very warm snowman) and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen JR. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart! OFC’s kid camp shows are typically 60-minutes in length and include full cast musical numbers as well as opportunities to feature soloists, specialty dancers, and supporting characters. Oftentimes these are Junior (Jr.) productions which are a 60-minute version of a full Broadway show, the Jr. versions reduce verses in long songs, cut subplots or unneeded musical numbers, and make the scripts easy to read and memorize for student performers. Compared to school year OFC programs, these will be a bit larger scale than our Elementary School shows, but a bit more time-efficient than our Middle School shows – to ensure all students have a fantastic experience. Auditions are held on the first day, with materials taught by the instructors; all students who register will be in the show with our “no cut” policy. Directors are ready to meet all students at their respective experience level and feature their skill sets appropriately, no matter how long they have been performing.

***Rochester Premiere***

Head Over Heels is the bold new musical comedy from the visionaries that rocked Broadway with Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Avenue Q and Spring Awakening. This laugh-out-loud love story is set to the music of the iconic 1980’s all-female rock band The Go-Go’s, including the hit songs, “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Vacation,” Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a Place on Earth” and “Mad About You.”

Head Over Heels is the story of what happens when the royal court of Arcadia is threatened by the mystical Oracle of Delphi with the loss of its “Beat,” the divine power that ensures the kingdom’s prosperity. King Basilius, whose own title is at stake, forces the members of the royal family and court on a journey to the woods in an attempt to escape the Oracle’s seemingly unavoidable prophecies. Through a plot containing usurped kingship, unlikely lovers, and gender-fluid disguises, Head Over Heels preaches unconditional love and acceptance of yourself and everyone you know, no matter their gender or sexual identity, and uses some of the greatest pop rock hits of the late 20th century.

Hi ho, hi ho, off to camp we go! Snow White Pint Sized is perfect for your first theatre experience! Focusing on skills in acting, singing, and dance — instructors will lead campers in learning a short 12-15 minute full stage production. Campers will be introduced to costumes, sets, props, and more all while having fun on stage! Each camper is guaranteed a role in the show. Perfect for kids coming out of their shell or for those ready to take center stage and hit their spotlight!

Camp is centered around public speaking, confidence building, and having fun. Oftentimes, the students will assist the instructor with writing the script for their short show – focusing on the beginning, middle, and end of the story, as well as which characters will have each line. Each student is guaranteed a role in the show with our “no cut” policy, and auditions are worked into their class material, rather than official auditions that could make little ones nervous.

***This is a straight play, not a musical***

The Velveteen Rabbit is an emotional journey through time, as told through the eyes of a young man looking back on his childhood. By reliving the relationship between his 4-year-old self and his favorite toy, the velveteen rabbit, he rediscovers the true meaning of friendship. Central to the story is, of course, the velveteen rabbit, who is introduced to the idea of becoming real by the old rocking horse. The play explores the rewards of loyalty, the poignancy of loss, and the wonderful, surprising powers of love.
