Our Summer Kids Theatre Program provides your child an opportunity to push his/her creative boundaries. Your child will be introduced to every aspect of the theatre, including singing, dancing, acting, back stage, costuming, props, & technical theatre, receiving the most well-rounded theatre experience.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

July 6th – July 18th, 2020
Monday-Friday 9AM-3PM daily

Told entirely through song with the help of a main character, the Narrator, the musical follows preferred son Joseph. After being sold into slavery by his brothers, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar, but ends up in jail. While imprisoned, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled, Elvis-inspired, Pharaoh. Joseph’s solution to Egypt’s famine elevates him to Pharaoh’s right-hand man and reunites him with his family. The magical musical is full of catchy songs and countless roles to feature young performers!

The story you know and love has been given the royal treatment! Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character. With expanded characters, new songs, and more thrills, this new adaptation of the beloved story will open up “a whole new world” for campers
and audience members!

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other's lives, as Miss Honey begins not only to recognize but also appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and could be the school pupils' saving grace!

Willy Wonka Jr

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka Jr. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences. The delicious adventures of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantastical tale.

Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce tribe, a band of bungling pirates and, of course, the villainous Captain Hook. Peter Pan JR. is the perfect show for the child in all of us... who dreamed of soaring high and never growing up.

Getting to Know… The Sound of Music. When a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain. They discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain's immediate service in their navy. The family's narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of WWII provides one of the most inspirational finales presented in theatre.

Ever dreamed of sashaying across the stage, twirling in your glittering costume as your lips move effortlessly to the music, all eyes on you? Learn drag from the professionals, live and in person. We'll cover everything from the history of drag through current trends, makeup, costuming, wig styling, character creation, hosting and performance skills, and the professional tips you may need to book shows and cultivate a professional reputation. The one week camp will culminate in a spectacular drag production! Come all potential kings & queens! Includes make-up kit to take home! Join us for 1 or both sessions

Open to ages 8 to 17

Vivian Darling is from Rochester, NY where she runs her own production company—Vivian Darling Productions. There, she directs and stars in drag based theatrical performances. Their latest project was drag murder mystery musical premiered at the 2019 Rochester Fringe Festival. She also hosts Rochester’s Monthly Drag Queen Bingo in association with the OutAlliance as a monthly fundraiser. She recently won 1st runner-up and Miss Congeniality at the Miss Gay Rochester Pageant this November. She has also worked with Ike Avelli and Tym Moss in 50 Shades of Gay during the Rochester Fringe Festival. Not only does she love to perform, she also loves to give back to the community. She’s raised money 5 years in a row to help raise funds for a Gay Youth Prom in Rochester, 6 years in a row for Trans Youth in Rochester, Breast Cancer Benefits and Awareness, and advocating for positive body image, self love and acceptance through her performances. She has a degree in theatre with a dual focus on directing and costume design.
